Big things are happening, and we can’t wait to share them with you. We put out the second video in our series focusing on the mobile app, released a new industry white paper, recorded and released our fourth webinar, won first place in the Ventana Research Digital Innovation Awards, and last but certainly not least, launched Mainnet! Keep reading for more info about what we’ve been up to and what’s next on the horizon.

What We’ve Been Up To

ShipChain Mainnet is Live!

After months of hard work, we are so pleased to announce that ShipChain Mainnet is live and fully functional. Mainnet is a public delegated Proof of Stake sidechain of the Ethereum network, and it provides one of the highest levels of functionality available in the freight and logistics industry. Its capabilities significantly exceed any other alternatives on the market, and we highly suggest you check it out for yourself.

This launch is a significant milestone towards our overarching goal of achieving a modular system across the entire supply chain. We are officially one step closer to complete transparency and visibility in supply chain and logistics.

Some of the most noteworthy benefits of this launch include:

  • Higher Transaction Throughput
  • 3rd Party “Build On Top Of Us” Perks
  • Staking
  • Full Functionality and Capabilities

SHIP Staking is Open

ShipChain uses a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, and there are a number of high-performance validator nodes that help secure the network. The users of the network help choose the validators they want to run the network. They do this by “staking” or “delegating” their SHIP tokens to validators — that is, the users give validators their support by proxying their tokens to their preferred validators.

Any SHIP token holder can choose which validators it wishes to support.

Staking is critical to securing a DPoS network. By staking your SHIP tokens, you can help choose the most reliable and high-performance validators, and thus ensure the strongest possible security and performance for ShipChain. The more people who stake and actively contribute, the more decentralized and secure the chain.

Those who stake SHIP tokens in support of a validator participate in the SHIP token rewards earned by that validator.

A token holder can stake its tokens via the ShipChain Dashboard.

And for more information about SHIP staking as a whole, please check out our recent blog post.

ShipChain Wins 1st Place in the Operations and Supply Chain Category of the Ventana Research Digital Innovation Awards

We did it! The competition was tough, but our platform came out on top. According to Ventana Research’s announcement, the Awards “recognize trailblazing vendors that contribute advancements in technology, drive change and increase value for organizations worldwide, backed by market research and analyst expertise across business and IT.”

We were incredibly honored to be considered and were confident that our solution would speak for itself. We’re glad to see that the judges felt the same way and are excited to see what the future holds for us and the other finalists.

ShipChain Releases New Industry White Paper about Final Mile

Over the past few years, we’ve dedicated ourselves to understanding the ins and outs of the shipping and logistics industry. During that time, we noticed a space that was in serious need of more visibility, Final Mile, or Last Mile delivery. To that end, we have decided to make the Final Mile capabilities of our multi-functional visibility platform available and announce our new stand-alone Final Mile solution, the Delivery Experience Manager. The Delivery Experience Manager is perfect for Final Mile delivery companies that are looking to add value to their customers. To learn more about the Delivery Experience Manager, click here.

Since Final Mile is such an important aspect of supply chain and logistics, we decided to focus our 2020 Q3 white paper, “How Will Blockchain Improve Last Mile Visibility?” on the bottlenecks, problems, and opportunities in the space and where blockchain fits in.

You can opt-in to download the white paper here.
